One Burrard Place
One of the largest single projects currently under construction in Downtown Vancouver, the Burrard Place development would see the creation of a significant landmark on the Burrard Street corridor. This proposed development is designed to create a dramatic entrance to Vancouver’s downtown area as people crest the Burrard Bridge heading north into the city. The project is targeting LEED-NC Gold certification.
Oakridge Lutheran Church Redevelopment
The Oakridge Lutheran Church and Catalyst Community Developments will develop, own, and operate this mixed-use building, which will include ground-floor retail space, second floor multi-purpose space for use by the Church and other community based organizations, and four floors of secured affordable rental housing.
8X On The Park
The proposed tower design for 1111 Richards Street development comprises of 388 market residential units, 110 rental residential units, a daycare facility, and several commercial tenancies at grade.
UBC Orchard Commons – Commissioning Authority
Orchard Commons is an academic and residential space for international and domestic students, completed in the summer of 2016. The vision behind the building is a creative and innovative space, focused on ease of interaction and flexible learning. The building and exterior space will offer multiple spaces for study sessions, lectures, lunch breaks and socializing. Additional facilities include an outdoor learning space and classrooms with the latest academic technology.
The building will prioritize sustainable practices. The dynamic social spaces and sustainability initiatives correlate with UBC’s entrepreneurial spirit and environmental focus. Ground broke for the new building as of September 2014, which is located at the intersection of West Mall and Agronomy road.
Royal Inland Hospital Clinical Services Building
The new Clinical Service Building will provide space for several outpatient services, the UBC medical school program, and a new lecture theatre as well as improved vehicle and pedestrian access to the hospital. Kane is serving as the project’s Commissioning Authority, Measurement & Verification lead, as well as the LEED Project Manager.
As the Commissioning Authority, Kane will provide reviews of designs, specifications, and shop drawings. Site visits will be completed during construction to complete quality assurance checks on equipment installations and start-ups. Towards the end of construction, we will direct and witness functional performance testing on the building’s energy consuming systems; our experience and expertise in building controls will add tremendous value at this phase. We will also produce all commissioning documentation as required by the CAGBC for the LEED submittal.
Parq Resort
Parq Resort is a new 675,000 sq ft development situated between Vancouver’s Yaletown and Gastown. Kane provided LEED Fundamental and Enhanced Commissioning and Project Management services for this exciting development, featuring two luxury resort hotels, a conference centre, restaurants, retail space, and a new home for the Edgewater Casino.
Port Place Mall Building D
Port Place Mall – Building D is one of First Capital Realty’s most recent projects. Located in Nanaimo, this new two-storey building will host a mix of office, retail and restaurants. The project is a stand-alone building located at the north end of the property of Port Place Mall. The project has a gross floor area of 49,230 ft2 (4,573m2).
The Robert
The Robert is a 5 storey mixed-use mid-rise building with 2 levels of underground parking for cars, and bikes. The first floor is commercial retail and the remainder residential with 70 units ranging from studios and 3-bedroom suites. The project is situated on the Broadway corridor with easy access to transit, amenities and open space. Good indoor air quality (healthy materials, efficient systems and best practice construction) and reduction in energy, water use are among the sustainability strategies integrated into this project.
The Robert has been awarded LEED Gold Certification by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). The Robert is the second LEED for Homes Mid-Rise project in Metro Vancouver and the third in BC.

Kensington Gardens
The site is located at the gateway to the Norquay Village neighborhood. The project is a mixed-use development consisting of 30 866 m² of residential and 4 853 m² of commercial.
Significant use of extensive and intensive green roof systems will reduce the developments heat island effect and minimize its impact on storm sewers while increasing habitat for wildlife. 100% of the project’s parking is underground, which further reduces the project’s heat island effect.
